Day 30 - Portland, OR (Day 8)

Sunday in the home of two ministers is like no other day of the week.

Tim preached at Montavilla United Methodist Church.

Elizabeth preached at Lincoln Street United Methodist Church.

We attended the Lincoln Street service and heard an outstanding sermon on the Psalms of lamentation.

Breakfast with Anna
Mom and dad both had meetings after church so we took Anna to breakfast at the Cup and Saucer Cafe on Hawthorne. It was an experience to be remembered. The good ... our meals were generous and very enjoyable. The service was ... well, the phrase "same day service, most of the time" describes it best. The community seems to understand and accept the consequence. The place was very busy for the entire time we were there.

Travel Prep
We started organizing the Trailblazer and re-loading the trailer. We had just finished when an "oops" happened.

The Oops
A driver in a small pickup truck passed too close to the parked Trailblazer and broke the driver's side mirror. It's a problem because we need a mirror to attach our towing mirror. We have to replace it or repair it temporarily before we leave. We're trying option 2.

John, a neighbor from across the street, and Dick collected the largest broken pieces, an old mirror and some plastic glue to cobble together a temporary mirror.
Long ago, someone told us
 to always carry duct tape.
We'll see how this works tomorrow.

Birdbathing
The early afternoon was warm enough for Tiger to catch some rays. If he was just waiting for lunch ... no luck.

Cold Pizza
A cold front moved in late this afternoon. It's supposed to go down to the high 40s tonight. The rapid change caught us by surprise and really put a chill on our outdoor pizza dinner plans.
It's k-k-kind'a c-c-cold.

Tomorrow
We're heading south on I-5 toward Sacramento. Details to follow.
