Day 31 - Portland, OR to Canyonville, OR

We finished reloading and left Portland on a cool, gray, misty morning. The weather matched the emotions of saying goodbye to family after a delightful visit.

Mirror Update
A few extra wraps of duct tape provided additional insurance against loss.
This rigging worked great.

About the Day
The roads were smooth and traffic moved smoothly. The day brightened and warmed by early afternoon. We spent the day adjusting to being back on the road.

The Route
The ramp to I-205S is just a few blocks from Tim & Elizabeth's home. We took it and connected with I-5S near Tualatin. I-5 provided the rest of the route. We stopped for the day in Canyonville, 214 miles later.
Lots of mountains and trees

The Campground
Seven Feathers RV Resort is part of a casino complex in Canyonville. It is a beautifully designed and presented RV campground facility ... one of the nicest we've seen.

The Casino
We went to the casino to check-out their $7.99 Monday buffet. The casino was as attractive as the RV resort.

The buffet price came with a catch ... you had to have a free Players Club card. The price without a Players Club card was $12.99.  There was another incentive ... get a card and they give you a $5 free slot play card. We thought today would be a good day to take some big risks, so we took the plunge.

The $7.99 buffet was very good. Carol won $1.20 on 1¢ and 5¢ slots. Dick won $0.49 on 5¢ slots. We tried to figure out how we won 49¢ on a machine that only pays out multiples of a 5¢ bet, but decided not to push our luck.

Travel Plans
So, what's the plan for getting home?

We're going to take I-5 to Sacramento, I-80 northeast across Nevada to Salt Lake City, I-15 south to I-70, then I-70 east to Denver (with a stop at Arches National Park). We'll take I-76 out of Denver to I-80, then east on I-80 to Davenport, IA. I-74 out of Davenport will get us to Indianapolis and I-70 for the final route home. A side-trip to Ouray, CO and a visit with Carol's brother-in-law in Denver are possibilities.
